Best Shopify Phone Number Apps in 2026: An Honest Comparison

11 min readBy the Shopdigits team

The best Shopify phone number app depends on who you want answering: your own team, an AI agent, or your team with an AI as backup. We compared eight apps from the Shopify App Store on what you actually get: a real phone number, who picks up, what the AI can do, how you're billed, and what reviewers say.

A disclosure first: we make Shopdigits, one of the apps on this list. We've tried to make this a list we'd trust ourselves. Every price and rating comes from each app's public Shopify App Store listing or pricing page, checked on October 10, 2026, and we've listed where Shopdigits isn't the right fit. Prices change often, so check the listing before you install.

The short answer

  • Your team answers, with AI as backup, at a flat price: Shopdigits, from $29 a month, or $49 with the AI.
  • An AI that resolves most calls, including returns or refunds: Ava AI, Rosie, CallFlows, or Ringly.
  • Outbound sales calls and campaigns: Consio.
  • A full phone system for a support team: Aircall.
  • The cheapest toll-free number, nothing else: SBoard, but read the recent reviews first.
  • Just a “call us” button for a number you already have: Phoneize.

What to look for in a Shopify phone app

  • Does it give you a number? Some apps provide one, some forward your existing line, and some only add a button that dials a number you already have.
  • Who picks up? A person on a mobile or desktop app, an AI agent, or a person first with the AI as backup.
  • What can the AI do? Looking up an order is common now. Changing an order, starting a return, or issuing a refund is not.
  • How are you billed? Flat monthly, per minute, or per conversation. Per-unit pricing is cheap when calls are rare and adds up quickly in peak season.
  • Can you text? US carriers require registration before a business number can send texts. Check whether the app helps with that.

1. Shopdigits: a toll-free line your team answers, with AI backup

Shopdigits gives your store a dedicated US toll-free number. Your team calls and texts from it on the Shopdigits iOS and Android apps, and incoming calls ring everyone at once. On Medium Shop and Enterprise, the AI voice agent answers when nobody picks up within the number of rings you set. It recognizes returning customers by caller ID, checks live order status in Shopify (after verifying unknown callers), answers from your products and policies, and transfers to a person on request. Every call is recorded, transcribed, and matched to the Shopify customer.

Pricing: Small Shop $29 a month (number, apps, voicemail with transcription, no AI). Medium Shop $49 (adds the AI voice agent and abandoned cart calls). Enterprise $99 (unlimited employees). All plans are flat, with unlimited calls within the US and Canada and a 14-day free trial.

Where it falls short:

  • US toll-free numbers only. If you want a local number, look elsewhere.
  • There's no self-serve way to bring an existing number. You reserve a new one in the app.
  • The AI is read-only on orders. It can't issue refunds, cancel or edit orders, or start returns. It offers a transfer or voicemail instead.
  • Small Shop and Medium Shop include one employee. Teams need Enterprise.
  • No phone menu (“press 1 for orders”).
  • Six reviews, so there's less social proof than for older apps.

Best for: small teams that want to answer their own calls and stop losing the ones they miss, at a price that doesn't rise with call volume.

2. Ringly: an AI agent that resolves support calls

Ringly's AI agent, Seth, answers calls around the clock in 40+ languages. It handles order status, returns, subscription updates, stock and product questions, and escalates to your team when it can't help. The listing says you can keep your current phone number and helpdesk, or use a number from Ringly.

Pricing: free to set up. The paid plan is $99 a month with 50 conversations included, then $1.99 per conversation. Spam, hang-ups, and wrong numbers are free, and you can set a monthly spending limit.

Watch out for: per-conversation pricing grows with volume. At 150 conversations a month, that's about $298. It has three reviews so far.

Best for: stores that want the AI to handle returns and subscriptions, and are happy to pay per conversation.

3. Consio: phone calls as a sales channel

Consio is a full call platform. It has an AI voice agent and an AI phone menu for inbound calls, plus a power dialer and voicemail drops for outbound campaigns to Klaviyo or Shopify segments, such as VIPs or abandoned checkouts. It connects to Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, and Richpanel. Its 42 reviews average 5.0, the most of any app here.

Pricing: free to set up. Paid plans are $30 (100 minutes), $60 (400 minutes), and $120 (1,000 minutes), with extra minutes at $0.10. Consio's pricing page bills in credits: AI agent minutes use more credits than regular call minutes, and going over your allowance moves you up a tier automatically.

Best for: stores that sell by phone and want outbound campaigns alongside inbound support.

4. CallFlows: a multilingual AI phone agent

CallFlows answers in the caller's language (50+ languages). It checks order status, inventory, and tracking, and handles shipping, returns, and exchange policy questions. Optional “skills” add actions like refunds or placing an order. You can use its local number or forward your existing line.

Pricing: $39 a month for 100 minutes ($0.19 per extra minute), $119 for 450 minutes, $349 for 1,600 minutes. 14-day free trial.

Best for: stores with multilingual customers that want the AI to take actions and keep their current number.

5. Aircall: a phone system for support teams

Aircall is a full cloud phone system with IVR, call recording, SMS and MMS, and desktop and mobile apps. When a customer calls, your agent sees their Shopify orders and tracking. AI Voice Agents handle order status, returns, and FAQs after hours.

Pricing: AI Voice Agents from $100 a month. The Essentials phone plan is $120 a month for a three-user minimum, with the AI as an add-on. Its unlimited inbound calling excludes toll-free numbers.

Best for: support teams of three or more who spend their day on the phone.

6. Rosie: AI support that can change orders

Rosie answers order and delivery questions, initiates returns, and cancels orders according to your policies, and it speaks Spanish. It has native iOS and Android apps. Higher plans add texting tracking and checkout links, address changes, and live transfer to your team.

Pricing: $49 a month for 250 minutes, $149 for 1,000, $299 for 2,000. 7-day free trial. Live transfer starts on the $149 plan.

Best for: higher-volume stores that want the AI to resolve order changes without a person. It launched in April 2026.

7. Ava AI: low-cost AI answering and cart calls

Ava gives you a dedicated number and an AI agent that answers product and policy questions, looks up orders, edits items, and processes refunds on the call. It can text tracking numbers. Its $99 plan adds abandoned checkout calls.

Pricing: $29 a month for 100 minutes, then $0.10 a minute. $99 for 400 minutes, then $0.08. 7-day free trial.

Best for: stores that want an AI-only line with refund powers at a low entry price.

8. SBoard: the cheapest toll-free number

SBoard gives you a US toll-free number that forwards to your personal phone, with voicemail. Higher plans add call minutes, call recording, outgoing calls, and incoming texts. There's no AI and no link to your Shopify customers.

Pricing: $8 a month plus call rates, or $10 for 250 US minutes and $20 for 750, then 10¢ a minute.

Watch out for: its rating has fallen to 2.5 from nine reviews. Read the most recent ones before you commit.

What about call button apps?

Apps like Phoneize (free, or $4.99 a month) add a floating “Call us” or WhatsApp button to your store. They don't give you a number or answer calls. They just make the number you already have easier to tap. If you only need the button, you can also add a tel: link yourself; see how to add a phone number to your Shopify store.

What would you pay at 100 calls a month?

Here's each app's published price for a store whose AI handles 100 calls a month, averaging three minutes each (300 minutes).

Published prices on October 10, 2026, before taxes. Consio and Aircall are left out because AI minute costs depend on your setup.
App and planHow it adds upMonthly cost
Shopdigits Medium ShopFlat price, no per-minute charge$49
Ava AI Support$29 + 200 extra minutes × $0.10$49
CallFlows Basic$39 + 200 extra minutes × $0.19$77
Rosie ScaleProfessional includes 250 minutes, so you need Scale$149
Ringly$99 + 50 extra conversations × $1.99$198.50

Shopdigits and Ava cost the same at this volume, and Ava can do more on the call, including refunds. The difference shows up as volume grows and in who answers. Shopdigits stays $49 however many calls come in, and your team gets first chance to pick up. Ava, CallFlows, Rosie, and Ringly cost more as volume grows, and the AI answers first.

What about Google Voice or Quo?

General business phone services work fine as a store phone line. Google Voice starts at $10 per user a month on top of Google Workspace. Quo (formerly OpenPhone) starts at $19 per user a month and includes a local or toll-free number. Neither connects to Shopify, so they can't match a caller to a customer or tell anyone where an order is. If you mostly need a second line for a small team, they're a reasonable choice. If you want calls tied to Shopify orders, use an app built for Shopify.

How to choose

  1. Count your calls. Check how many calls you get a month and how many you miss. Per-minute apps are cheap at low volume. Flat pricing wins as volume grows.
  2. Decide who should answer first. If you want to talk to customers yourself, pick an app that rings your phone first. If you never want to pick up, pick an AI-first app.
  3. List what callers need. If most calls are about order status and products, a read-only AI is enough. If many are about changing orders, you need an AI that can take actions.
  4. Use the free trial on real calls. Call your new number from another phone, ask about a real order, and read the transcript.

If Shopdigits sounds like the right fit, it starts at $29 a month with a toll-free number included and a 14-day free trial. Install Shopdigits on Shopify or compare plans.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best phone number app for Shopify?

It depends on who answers. If your team answers most calls and wants an AI to catch the rest at a flat price, Shopdigits fits. If you want an AI to handle nearly every call, including returns or refunds, look at Ava, Rosie, CallFlows, or Ringly. For outbound sales calling, Consio. For a support team of three or more, Aircall.

Is there a free phone number app for Shopify?

Not one that includes a working number for free. Consio and Ringly are free to set up, but you pay once real calls start. Phoneize is free, but it only adds a call button that dials a number you already have. The cheapest number among the apps we compared is SBoard's US toll-free number at $8 a month, plus call charges.

Which Shopify apps give you a toll-free number?

Shopdigits includes a US toll-free number on every plan and lets you search for vanity numbers. SBoard offers a US toll-free number from $8 a month. Outside the App Store, Quo includes a local or toll-free number with each user. Aircall offers toll-free numbers but excludes toll-free calls from its unlimited inbound calling.

Can I keep my existing number with a Shopify phone app?

Some apps support it. Ringly's listing says you can keep your existing number, CallFlows lets you forward your existing line to its number, and Quo offers free porting. Shopdigits doesn't offer a self-serve way to bring an existing number; you reserve a new toll-free number in the app.

Which Shopify phone apps can process refunds or edit orders on a call?

According to their listings, Ava AI can edit items and process refunds on the call, Rosie can initiate returns and cancel orders, CallFlows offers add-on skills for refunds and placing orders, and Ringly handles returns and subscription updates. Shopdigits' AI can look up orders but can't change them.

Can I just use Google Voice for my Shopify store?

You can. Google Voice starts at $10 per user a month on top of a Google Workspace subscription. It works as a phone line, but it doesn't connect to Shopify, so it can't match callers to customers or look up orders.
